A progressive local government, easy transportation access and a skilled labor force helps keep the business and industry in the Miami area competitive in the state and national markets. Currently, the City of Miami and the Miami Area Economic Development Service (MAEDS) work together to provide a strong economic development environment in Northeast Oklahoma.

Miami has a rich history in bringing industry to this area. Blitz USA, the largest manufacturer of gas cans in the United States, Newell Coach, a company that customizes motor homes, and J-M Farms, a mushroom farm, call Miami, Oklahoma, home. Several other industries are located in Miami as well.

The retail market in Miami is also growing. With new franchises being built on many corners it is exciting to see the growth and beautification of this area. The City of Miami, MAEDS and the Chamber of Commerce have taken an active roll in making a difference in Miami's present and its future.
