Ribbon Cutting

One of the Miami Area Chamber’s main goals is to promote existing and new businesses.  We celebrate new businesses with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony that will be featured on our website and through local news media.  We’re also happy to promote your open house or other business events.

The Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Friday, September 8th, during the 2017 Festi-Fall event to celebrate its new location (11 S Main Street).

A Ribbon Cutting was held for Opaa! Food Management on Tuesday, November 28, at the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate their recent chamber membership.

Opaa! Food Management specializes in serving the nutritional needs of K-12 school districts. They partner with each district to tailor a child nutrition program that meets the local community’s needs. Then they incorporate locally grown farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. The final touch is Opaa’s scratch cooking, including oven-fresh rolls with lots of tender loving care baked right in. When you partner with Opaa!, you’re assured of a wide variety of fresh, safe, and nutritious choices to support a healthy learning environment, all at an exceptional value.

A Ribbon Cutting was held for Wisper ISP on Tuesday, October 17, to celebrate their new office, located at 4743 Gateway Drive Joplin, MO.

Wisper was created in 2003 when Nathan Stooke decided to make a change from owner of a software company to an entrepreneur in the wireless Internet field. Stooke’s neighbor, a local business owner, could not find a high-speed Internet option at his office only two miles down the road, despite being able to get both cable and DSL at their home. More than six months of research on “How Wireless Internet Works” and three maxed credit cards later, Wisper ISP was born. Wisper was built from the ground up, focusing on underserved rural areas. News of the new high-speed Internet option spread like wildfire in the broadband-starved/broadband-deficient community, as grateful new customers eagerly told all their friends and neighbors.

Today, Wisper is headquartered in Mascoutah, Illinois but there are additional remote offices in Ashely, IL, and Joplin, MO. Now boasting a staff of 70, Wisper is considered a leader in the wireless industry because of their creative problem solving, excellent customer service and experienced employees.
