RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE
One of the Miami Area Chamber’s main goals is to promote existing and new businesses. We celebrate new businesses with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony that will be featured on our website and through local news media. We’re also happy to promote your open house or other business events.
Fern Holland Way (A Street SE from Steve Owens Blvd to Central) was dedicated on Wednesday, Oct 19th. She was a lawyer and human rights activist from this area. It is great to see the community turn out to honor someone who impacted so many lives throughout the world. She was killed in Iraq in 2004.
There are approximately 515,000 Shriners now. They gather in Shrine Centers, or chapters, throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Republic of Panama and Europe. There are 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children — 18 orthopedic hospitals, 3 burn hospitals and 1 hospital that provides orthopedic, burn and spinal cord injury care. These hospitals have cured or substantially helped more than 650,000 children, at no cost to parent or child, since the first Shriner Hospital opened in 1922
